when you start to choose to cause a life of pain
for one thing
and you push out little pieces of your brain

and you know you'll see it later in the drain
for one thing

and you cast a broken icon on the sand
for one thing
and you pay to kill the leader of the land
for one thing
and you stretch out over more than you can stand
for one thing

and you set aside the most that you can lose
for one thing
and you fear the countless faces that you bruise
for one thing
and you swear you'll kick tomorrow if you choose
for one thing

and you stare out through the cracks between the lines
for one thing
and you give away your secrets in your rhymes
for one thing
and you hide out in the foothills of your mind
for one thing
