 Sikes Named Local Newsman

by Buddy Eugene Sikes

The Committee of Ten voted this week to appoint Parnell Community native Buddy Eugene Sikes as the official newsman for the city. Most everyone is familiar with Mr. Sikes' work as Highly Enlightened Historian for the Benevolent Brotherhood of Bison Lodge, and have traded with him at Parnell Feed & Seed where Sikes is employed as the Senior Feed Store Clerk, or have used his taxidermy and gunsmithing services.

Sikes brings to the position a vast knowledge of the people, geography and the history of Parnell Community, as well as nearly two semesters of college training. "I will do my best to live up to the great confidence that the Committee has shown in my abilities, and pledge to report the news fairly and completely at all times", said Sikes. Any resident with a news item can contact Sikes at the Feed Store or write down your news item and leave it in the wire basket next to the cash register at Jake's Grocery & Market , where Sikes will pick up messages on a regular basis.

 VANDALS STRIKE AGAIN!

Federal Laws Violated!

by Buddy Eugene Sikes

Denver and Essie Stockdale reported the destruction of their mailbox late last evening. The Stockdales, both lifelong Parnell Community residents, were sitting on their back porch when they heard a tremendous crash as a late model pickup truck sped away down Caney Road. The couple rushed around to the front of their home only to discover that their mail box had been damaged beyond repair. "This ain't the first time this has happened", said Stockdale. "They did the same thing about two months ago." Stockdale said that a group of teenage boys speed by and one of them smashes the mailboxes with an aluminum baseball bat, in effect destroying Federal Property. He added that the next time the boys try it they might be in for a surprise, as he plans to install a new quarter inch steel box , set in concrete, that Jimmy Don Parnell made for him at his tractor shop. "That should get their attention", said Stockdale. The couple guessed that the boys had come up from McKinney, as they didn't recognize the truck or it's occupants.

REV. BILLY EARL PARNELL DENOUNCES VANDALS

by Buddy Eugene Sikes

The Rev. Billy Earl Parnell, Pastor of The First Baptist Church of Parnell Community, has strongly denounced the recent acts of vandalism which have befallen some local residents. Pastor Parnell told worshipers that the lack of discipline and Bible teaching in schools was responsible for the unlawful behavior exhibited by many of today's young people. Parnell urged members to pray for the vandals and called upon local authorities to apprehend and punish them. "They have to learn that such outlaw behavior will not be tolerated", said Parnell.

How much can one fan of OKOM (Our Kind Of Music) accomplish in just a couple of years? Plenty, if it's Rockzilla, aka photographer Michael Johnson. From 2003 to 2005, rockzilla.net was a chronicle of the alt.country scene from a uniquely Texan perspective. But all good things must end, and Rockzilla has retired from the online 'zine scene.

This mirror site was copied from the rockzilla.net site with the express permission of Rockzilla hisself. If you don't believe me, go to the KHYI-Fans email list and ask him! Buddy will back me up, too.
